Although Monaco only seems as if it is a "one city-country", it has still been divided into four distinct areas, and they are:

1. Monaco-Ville:

This is the oldest area of Monaco. It is also the most historical because it is where the former fortress is located. Another major aspect of this area is the royal palace, where the late Prince Rainier III lived up until this past year.

2. Monte Carlo:

This is known as the most fashionable part of Monaco, and also the most modern. Here you can find luxury hotels, villas, high-rise apartments, an opera house, and a beautiful beach. This area of Monaco is especially well known for major events such as the Monte Carlo Rally, the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, and it's world famous Monte Carlo Casino.

3. La Condamine:

This area consists of the area along the port, which is very well known for its luxurious yacht clubs and boating activities. It is located between Monaco-ville and Monte Carlo.

4. Fontvielle:

This is the newest area of Monaco. The land of this area has actually been reclaimed from the sea because of the lack of land in this country. This area is very urban, and contains a sports complex along with many tourist attractions.
